Howard Presents At SBRP Annual Meeting

Doctoral candidate Greg Howard recently presented a talk titled "Modeling Mixtures of Full and Partial Agonists Using Generalized Concentration Addition" during the Computational Approaches session of the 2007 SBRP annual meeting in North Carolina. Greg's work, with Tom Webster (project 2), focuses on methods for assessing and predicting interactions-additive, synergistic, or antagonistic- between toxic exposures. Recently, this has included developing a model of additivity for mixtures of full and partial-agonist dioxin-like agents, as well as rationalizing definitions of additivity in toxicology and in epidemiology.

Madeleine Scammell and Jessica Nelson, BU SBRP Translation and Outreach staff, recently presented the findings of the Boston Consensus Conference on Biomonitoring at the Public Health Applications of Human Biomonitoring Meeting in North Carolina.  The meeting was sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the International Council of Chemical Associations. Madeleine spoke about the Consensus Conference during a symposium looking at the “Challenges Faced in Communication of Biomonitoring Information” and JessicaMadeleine presented a poster about the Consensus Conference. An article describing the consensus conference and reporting the lay panel findings was subsequently published in the subscription news service, BNA.
