Tier 1A Sites in Massachusetts

NPL Sites in Massachusetts

The map above shows all of the Tier 1A sites in Massachusetts as of November 2006. Tier 1A sites are the highest classification of 21E sites (state Superfund sites) as described by the Massachusetts Contingency Plan.

If you would like to view all of the 21E sites in Massachusetts the Google Earth file below is available for download. In order to view this file you will need to have Google Earth installed on your computer, or download it for free from the Google Earth Website.

There are a couple of limitations to these data and their representation on these maps. First, depending on the zoom level of the map some data points will not appear. These data points are still on the map and can be seen by zooming in to a particular area (using the sliding scale on the left side of the map). Second, most of these data have been exported from a MassGIS file. These data points should only be considered an "approximation" or "best estimate" of site locations based on the information submitted to the MassDEP.
